SSC JE Recruitment 2026: Staff Selection Commission has released the Junior Engineer Examination 2026 notification on 02.09.2026 for 1748 tentative vacancies of Junior Engineer (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Electrical & Mechanical, Telecom) and Scientific Assistant in the India Meteorological Department. The posts are Group B posts in Pay Level-6 with a pay scale of Rs. 35400-112400 under the 7th Central Pay Commission, spread across departments such as Border Roads Organization, Central Water Commission, CPWD, Military Engineer Services, Farakka Barrage Project, Brahmaputra Board, NTRO, DGQA Naval, Department of Telecommunication, Director General of Lighthouses and Lightships, and the Ministry of Fisheries. Candidates with a Degree or Diploma in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics or Telecommunication Engineering, or a B.Sc. with Physics for Scientific Assistant, are eligible to apply. The age limit is up to 30 years for most posts and up to 32 years for CPWD and Lighthouses posts as on 01.08.2026, with age relaxation for SC, ST, OBC, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen as per rules. Online applications can be submitted at ssc.gov.in from 02.09.2026 to 22.09.2026 (23:00 hours), and the application fee of Rs. 100 can be paid online up to 23.09.2026; women, SC, ST, PwBD and Ex-Servicemen candidates are exempted from the fee. The selection process consists of Paper-I (qualifying Computer Based Examination), Paper-II (CBE) and Document Verification, with Paper-I tentatively scheduled in October/November 2026 and Paper-II in December 2026.
